I’m feeling pretty burned out these days.
Since I’m in the middle of launching and preparing for my upcoming Goodbye 9 to 5 masterclass (which you can get a sneak peek of by clicking here!), I’m basically working around the clock. It’s enjoyable, but it’s starting to catch up to me: I’m getting exhausted, and I’m really looking forward to being able to take more than an afternoon off here and there.
Getting to this point means, for me, that my health hasn’t been at the top of my priorities (and if you’re a regular reader of SaganMorrow.com, you’ll know that this has been going on for a quite a while now!). It makes it challenging to try to fit in healthy eating and consistent exercise on top of everything else when managing burnout.
Jumping around and dancing like crazy to some silly upbeat pop song gets the heart rate up and it feels SO GOOD in terms of mental health, too. I’ve always loved dancing (and I’m looking forward to getting back into ballroom dancing in September when Mr. Science is home from field work and I have more free time!), so it just makes sense to have mini dance party breaks throughout the week when I need to step away from the computer and get some exercise.
A break of dancing for the space of one song is enough to feel re-energized and to loosen up! And I KNOW that I can find 5 minutes in my day to set aside for a little dance party 🙂
If you’re feeling tired and burned out lately, if you’re finding it challenging to fit in exercise, then I encourage you to try doing daily dance parties by yourself, too. And if dancing isn’t your thing (*gasp!*), then you could do the same with just about any other activity.
Find a way to engage for just a few minutes each day (perhaps running on the spot for the space of a song? Doing a few yoga poses while the kettle boils for a cup of tea?) doing an activity that you love and that gives you a moment to pause and re-energize… and have fun.
After all, we all need to have more fun!
