Lifestyle Editing: Books I read in February 2011

February was another great month for books! It actually really helps, knowing that I’ll be writing a book list at the end of the month, to make sure that I keep reading. It’s not as though I have tons of time on my hands… it’s more that I am re-prioritizing my time. Instead of cruising the Internet randomly in my spare time, I’m reading. It’s great. I feel as though I’m eleven years old again, spending all my free time with my nose in a book 🙂

Books that I began reading in January and finished reading in February

A Moveable Feast by Ernest Hemingway

Guns, Germs, and Steel by Jared Diamond

Books that I both began and finished reading in February

Eat, Memory: Great Writers at the Table (A collection of essays from The New York Times) edited by Amanda Hesser

At Large and At Small: Confessions of a Literary Hedonist by Anne Fadiman

The Sun Also Rises by Ernest Hemingway (I got on a bit of a Hemingway “kick” – he’s wonderful.)

The Sea Wolf by Jack London (Couldn’t put this book down. I started reading it on a Saturday morning and had it finished by 11am the next day.)

Tuesdays with Morrie by Mitch Albom

Books that I began reading in February but have yet to finish reading

100 Days of Weight Loss: The secret to being successful on any diet plan – a daily motivator by Linda Spangle (I actually started reading this book in January – but it is taking me at least 100 days to read because it gives me a new exercise to do every day for 100 days.)

A Grammar of Motives by Kenneth Burke (this book is going to take me forever to finish. It’s nice to read a whole book by Burke, though, rather than just excerpts of his work!)

Crime and Punishment by Fyodor Dostoyevsky (I barely started reading this book – just into the first few chapters so far, but it’s already awesome.)

  1. I just started reading ‘Guns, Germs and Steel’ a couple of days ago and it is hard to put down….a very unique analysis of world history!

    1. I know! It’s great, isn’t it?
