Personal fulfillment coaching FAQ — What does a personal fulfillment coach do blog post

What does a personal fulfillment coach do? (Personal Fulfillment, Part 2)

What does a personal fulfillment coach do? Come to that, what does a life coach do, and what is the role of a personal coach? In our previous blog post, we explored the topic of what is personal fulfillment… and one of the best ways to find personal fulfillment in your own life is to hire a personal fulfillment coach! If you’re wondering what to expect from a personal fulfillment coach, that’s exactly what we’re going to cover in today’s article…

What does a personal fulfillment coach do? What does a life coach do?

A personal fulfillment coach is a type of life coach. Life coaches can cover a broad range of areas, and (in my opinion) it’s a broader umbrella term. “Life” is a pretty big topic! That’s why you’ll find life coaches who specialize in relationships and communication, or health and wellness, etc. There are also many different techniques and methods that you can use in life coaching (or in any of the niches under the umbrella of life coaching), as well.

For example, I’m internationally board-certified as a Success and Life Coach… and my area of expertise is in personal fulfillment coaching (with a strong foundation in mindset coaching).

Life coaching in general is about working with clients (using a co-created, client-centric approach) to reach their full potential — to be more of their best selves, to get clarity on their vision and values, to accomplish their goals, and so on. It’s often very goal-oriented. And that’s great!

What I like about being a personal fulfillment coach is that I still help clients achieve their goals, but we are always looking at the path they are taking to achieve those goals, too. I love supporting my clients in experiencing deep personal fulfillment throughout their lives, in all facets of their lives.

We use a blend of mindset with strategy — the tangible actions and behaviour change in conjunction with thought exercises and more helpful outlooks on life (which is especially important when a client first comes to me with a lot of negative self talk). You learn how to change mindset AND behaviour.

How do you know YOU need a personal fulfillment coach?

Not everyone “needs” a coach — but the vast majority of people can BENEFIT from having a coach!

Here are some indicators that you, specifically, can benefit from a personal fulfillment coach…

  • You’re feeling stuck or lost: a) you want to get unstuck (and you might even logically know “how” to do it), but you can’t seem to bring yourself to get unstuck, and/or b) you have no idea how to find yourself again, and you desperately want some clarity moving forward in your life.
  • You’re highly self aware, and you’re at a point where you KNOW you could do and be more, do and be better… and yet you don’t seem to be stepping into your full potential: You have high standards and expectations of yourself — and you want to be that best version of yourself.
  • You’ve had some great accomplishments in your life, but a) you feel like it’s a fluke, b) you aren’t as fulfilled or satisfied by those accomplishments as you thought you’d be, c) you’re waiting for the other shoe to drop, d) you don’t feel like those accomplishments are anything special, and/or e) you’re not sure where to go from here.
  • You have a negative voice on repeat in your head — and you might not even realize just how critical you are of yourself! You know you should have a better relationship with yourself (you’re often judging yourself, feeling guilt or shame, or beating yourself up; you would NEVER speak to your loved ones the way that you speak to yourself), but there’s a part of you that believes you won’t get anything done if you’re not hard on yourself.

Does any of that sound familiar?

If even just ONE of those statements sounds like you, then you can benefit from hiring a personal fulfillment coach…

…and if two or more of those statements ring all too true, then you should definitely get personal fulfillment coaching ♥

Having a personal fulfilment coach means you get a specialist’s opinion in your back pocket, their full attention on YOU during those coaching sessions, and a “fast-track” to overcome your obstacles.

As your personal fulfillment coach, I will help you to get unstuck, have more clarity, become that best version of yourself, take your accomplishments to a whole other level, be more kind and compassionate to yourself (while simultaneously making better progress on your goals), and build a better relationship with yourself.

By the way: Coaching is a completely different depth and sustainability of transformation than talking things out with a friend or reading a personal development book, and here’s why: It is fully customized to you, asking the exact right questions in the exact right way at the exact right moment.

Your coach needs to KNOW you.

What is the role of a personal coach?

Think of a life coach or personal fulfillment coach as your guide. As your personal fulfillment coach, I don’t tell you “what to do” — rather, I help you improve your relationship with yourself. I help you work through any obstacles in your path, uncover the answers lurking deep within you, and provide you with support and encouragement along the way.

I want to note here that I also do solopreneur coaching, and in that case we often use a hybrid model of coaching alongside consulting and mentorship.

In that case, there are some instances in which I’ll be giving you advice — but “giving advice” is not at all the main focus of a typical coaching experience.

My role is truly that of your guide. I’m here to look at your life, your choices, your mindset, etc from a different perspective, and to help you to see things differently when you’re stuck. During our personal fulfillment coaching sessions, we work together to get you UNstuck!

I’m here to help you understand yourself on a new level, so that you can live life based on your truest values and what brings you the most fulfillment. I help you to reframe how you see yourself, and you’ll also learn how to leverage your strengths (and weaknesses) to your best advantage. You learn how to be kinder and more compassionate to yourself, and we work on unravelling that negative self-talk that holds you back.

Whether you want help overcoming self doubt, imposter syndrome, negative self-talk, poor boundaries, substandard work/life balance, procrastination issues, perfectionism, confidence issues, clarity on your vision and goals — or you just want to be a better version of yourself — personal fulfillment coaching can help.

What to expect from a personal fulfillment coach?

Here’s what you can expect from me when you hire me as your personal fulfillment coach…

  1. I will compassionately challenge you. I’m not a proponent of “tough love” or “drill sergeant” style of coaching. Rather, I help you to stretch your comfort zone without being tossed miles outside of your comfort zone!
  2. I will help you learn to be kinder to yourself and more compassionate to yourself, more understanding of yourself, and to deepen your awareness of yourself. The relationship you have with yourself is the most important relationship in your life — and THAT is the one that we prioritize working on, together.
  3. I will help you to accomplish your goals *in a way that feels good to you* throughout the PROCESS of achieving those goals. You will find personal fulfillment in the act of working toward those goals, rather than just the end goals themselves.

FAQ about personal fulfillment coaching

Here’s what to expect from our personal fulfillment coaching sessions…

First, I will listen to all the things you’re saying — and not saying — in order to piece together all the parts of you. Think of me almost like your very own investigative detective!

When I’m listening to you, I’m listening to the words you’re saying, HOW you’re saying things, the things you’re NOT saying, what you’re focusing on more than other things, how your facial expressions and body language shifts in conjunction with the words you’re using… All of that gets taken into consideration, and all of it is VERY important for me to best know how to guide you.

Second, I will customize the approach I take (including the questions I ask you and the way in which I ask those questions, the thought exercises I suggest, etc), based on a) who YOU are, b) what our unique relationship is like, c) what’s going on for you in the moment.

I’m not “reading coaching questions” *at you* from a book. Instead, I’m taking everything I know about you from our previous sessions, and watching and listening to you in THIS moment, to determine the absolute best questions to help you in this particular moment.

Third, I will co-create this experience WITH you. The most important thing is that you are getting what you want and need from our personal fulfillment coaching sessions. If you are not ready to talk about something, I will respect that. If something feels too far out of your comfort zone, we’ll explore that together to see whether there’s an alternate approach we can take (or if there are ways to stretch your comfort zone safely). If a thought experiment doesn’t feel true for you, then we’ll alter it and figure out a better approach.

You learn how to do mindset work in a way that WORKS for YOU. That’s how to change mindset and behaviour; that’s how to change your mindset to be successful.

Personal fulfillment coaching is highly personal — We are never putting you into a box and using cookie cutter strategies. All of our personal fulfillment coaching is done with YOU at the centre, and we will tailor it over time as you grow and change, so that it meets you where you’re at while also elevating you to the next level.

What I like best about personal fulfillment coaching…

There are many, MANY things I love about being a personal fulfillment coach, but I think one of the things I like BEST about personal fulfillment coaching is helping my clients to see themselves in a way they never have before.

My clients are often high achievers, or perfectionists, or people who have very high expectations of and standards for themselves. They have a lot of guilt, shame, and self judgment to unpack (e.g. they often overwork because they don’t want to be viewed as “lazy,” or they over-give of themselves to others and struggle to see themselves at the same level of “worthy” as other people — even though they have such high standards for themselves and typically excel at their field).

…so as a result? Helping them to see themselves with kindness and compassion, to learn about their unique strengths and superpowers that they’ve previously been dismissive toward, to be vocal about their values and stand up for themselves, to ACT upon the things that fulfills them… All of that is so, so special.

My clients learn how to BE in the present moment, and to embrace their true selves.

My clients dramatically improve their relationships with themselves.

Another layer to this — which is also VERY cool — is that they make incredible progress on their goals as a result.

Here’s what I love about that → They often come to me with the mentality that, “I need to be mean to myself if I want to achieve XYZ goal… If I’m ‘easy’ on myself, then I’ll just never get around to accomplishing  my goals.”

…but after we’ve started doing our coaching sessions together, they realize that they can be kind and compassionate toward themselves while also making better progress than ever before on their goals.

That is radical.

That is transformative.

That is power.

That is true personal fulfillment.

You are worthy of this experience, too!
